What does a pent up artist do on a rainy day? Take updated self-portraits of her ink! We've (Ron at Tailored Tattoo) finished up my left shoulder, now on to my right before May. Anyways, January has been somewhat of a hellish month for me. I went to the hospital on the 12th with terrible abdominal pain and was under the knife getting my appendix ripped out on the 13th. It worked out perfectly because 13 happens to be my lucky number;) So I've been recovering from that lately! I have also been working hard on getting my studio equipment set up, I need a few more components to finalize it, but it is coming along quite nicely! 2015 is all about rebirth and rejuvenation for me and my company. With that being said, I decided to take the plunge and raise my fee from $100 to $200. With the old $100 fee I was really short-changing myself and not allowing enough room for me to grow my company. I was able to purchase a new lens this past year and some studio equipment, but it is my goal to grow my company so that I can better serve my clients. It is my hope to get a steadier flow of clientele in 2015 as well. I LOVE photography and I want to share that love with you! I want to catch some of life's unforgettable moments.

Everyone say hello to the Soliman family! Our first attempt at getting some family photos was unsuccessful as the weather was frigid and one of our little men was less than enthused about having his photo taken by some strange lady;) Our second attempt turned out perfectly with amazing weather and some great shots (including some super sweet candids: my fav!) It was so hard to choose a sneak peek and a blog cover photo. I want to say a big thank you to the Soliman family for giving it a second try and being so awesome! Also, a big shout out to my assistant (my mom), who won the heart of our shy guy and helped him open up so I could get some great shots!
Everyone say hello to our newest addition, Boss! I've loved him for a long time and now he's finally ours!
Ok, now onto the nitty gritty. This post is intended to be more informative than just letting you know what I'm up to so prepare thyself. First: I cannot express enough how important it is to be straight forward with me. I am a very black and white person and very much a straight shooter (just ask my friends). With that being said, tell me what you want! You are the client, I am here to provide as service for you as per your request. Be honest and tell me exactly what you want and the world will be a better place:) Will we agree? Sometimes yes and sometimes no. I'm the artist and I know what will look good and what will look terrible; but please, please, please always ask! I will always let you know if your idea is doable or if that pin on your Pinterest board should be erased forever:) Second: I believe my rates are VERY modest. Will my rates go up as I get better and buy better equipment? Yes! News flash, EVERY photographer goes through this as they grow, and I'm growing:) Whew, had to get that off my chest! For those of you who have worked with me know that I am very laid back and flexible, these are just some of my pet peeves that needed to be addressed. Do you feel better? I feel better. Onto news, I have a family session coming up this weekend so be on the lookout for that! It will be loads of fun! Happy Wednesday everybody! For those of you who don't know (and couldn't tell by my photos), I LOVE animals. Sometimes I feel like I have more animal friends than people friends! My cat (Cookie) and dog (Brady) always know when I'm sick or something's wrong with me. Petting them and being with them is sometimes the greatest medicine. My love for animals has pushed me in the direction of pet photography, totally without plan! More recently I have been volunteering my time and services at the local shelter. I just love meeting these pets that had a rough start, have found themselves homeless and just illustrating their true character and personality. They are true "diamonds in the rough" 9 times out of 10. This kitty was soo sweet and social! Can't you almost hear is meow through your screen?! Please consider bringing a homeless pet into your home for this holiday season!
Today I had the opportunity to go to Culpeper County Animal shelter and volunteer my professional photography services and capture some adorable pups! It is my hope that my photos of these great pets will help them find their furever homes. This pooch is named Kingston, he is a spaniel mix who is approximately 5 years of age. During the time I spent with him today, he is very sweet and would be a great companion for someone special! I will be making lots of visits to the shelter as new pets come in so stay up to date on all incoming residents. Also, look on Emily Ann Photography's Facebook page for other dogs I visited with today!
Hello friends! What a whirlwind my life has been lately! I have been busy taking my online classes, coaching volleyball, shooting photos, moving into a new house, and working on a short film. Needless to say, my body pumped the breaks on my hectic lifestyle yesterday when I got some sort of 24 hour flu. Thankfully, I am feeling much better today. It has been FOREVER since I have posted a blog and figured I would catch everyone up on my recent endeavors! Here's a photo I snapped earlier in the month of my cousin and four of her kids...aren't they all so beautiful?! I will be uploading some more photos into the gallery on my webpage later today so keep an eye out. ALSO! I will be writing a blog post about the latest project I have been helping out with so watch out for that as well!
Jessica is a repeat client of mine who moved to Texas back in March! She was home visiting and wanted to bring some of her ideas to life, this being one of them. We had such a fun time with our session (as we always do) and both put our Pinterest minds to work:) I LOVE this image, as it totally looks like something that would be found on Pinterest (It will be after I add it to Pinterest later)! If you've been thinking of setting up a session with me, now is the time! The sunset hours at this time of year are STUNNING! Slide over to the contact tab now!
What a great, relaxing weekend! Friday kicked off with a road trip to my favorite tattoo artist Ron at Tailored Tattoo in Bridgewater, VA to finish up some of my ink. Saturday was wine filled at Barrel Oak Winery for a Pit Bull adoption event then to Applebee's for trivia night (still mad we lost!!!) And today, we hiked Bull Run Mt. (going to be sore!) I'm looking forward to some upcoming sessions as well as Spring semester coming to a close this week! Contact me to schedule your session! I had such a great time at Fredericksburg Beard Coalition's first annual Beard and Mustache competition! All proceeds from the event went towards the fight against Pediatric cancer. There were lots of contestants who got the opportunity to strut their whiskers on the cat walk and show off their facial-fuzz-growing abilities. There was even a women's categories called the "Whiskerina's" who were very clever in creating their very own handmade beards. I wasn't able to stay the whole time, but there was also some awesome Rockabilly music as well as a pinup competition! Above is an image of one of the contestants of the "Full Beard" category, Guy rockin' the surfboard! Everyone go show FXBC some love and support by "liking" their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/FXBCVA and stay on the lookout for more photos from yesterday's event! FXBC's members do so many great things for our community and I can't wait to capture more photos of more bearded faces in the future!
Here's a sneak peek from this morning's session with Jessica and Seth! Fauquier girl, born and raised, now starting a new chapter in her life. They are on their way to Texas as we speak and are starting their new life together. I wish you two nothing but the best in all that you do! Stay tuned for more of these two:)
